Bassano Bresciano

Since 1962

Pelma was born in 1962 in the southern outskirts of Bassano Bresciano (Brescia).

Our ambition is to provide each customer with personalized service. For this reason, every single project is the result of a teamwork among the different areas, which care about their particular problems, but at the same time determined to reach common objectives.

The construction of the new location in the south of Bassano Bresciano is the result of an intelligent project, where the space assumes a real synergical value with every single process of both production and management

Pelma is our way of projecting the future, by living the present without forgetting the past.

Always one step ahead

Pelma is aware that only the right combination between human resources and technologies will allow the Company to look at the future with confidence and safety.

Pelma has always cared about environment and that’s why it installed VPF (Variable Pressure Foaming)a fully automated system that pushes the limits of expanded polyurethanes even further system which doesn’t need any auxiliary expanding agents (such as CFC/HCFC, Methylene Chloride, CO2, etc.) in order to obtain Foams using water only, resulting totally non-pollutant and recyclable.

This system allows the production of Foams with high-quality mechanical and physical properties, with an improvement in stratigraphy and with a better consistency in long periods of time.

We shape your ideas

The designers’ thoughts and creativity find their realization in Pelma’s product: precise and safe.

Our products, subjected to sophisticated control processes, gave architects and designers the opportunity to see their projects materialized.

It is a cooperation which allowed Pelma to achieve a higher awareness in providing specific features in all its products, which are guaranteed during the time.

AIPEF Presidence

Dr. Marco Pelucchi is the President of AIPEF, a group formed within the Plastic Federation, which represents a large majority of the national companies producing Flexible Polyurethane Foam blocks and is supported by all the major producers of raw materials and additives used in the sector.

Our General Manager, dr. Marco Pelucchi was elected in unanimity by the Aipef General Assembly, after the resignation of Luigi Olmo, president for 10 years, who resigned from his position “Not only for personal reasons”, as he declared, “but even to nourish the work team”.

“I’m really honoured to have been elected by my colleagues”, declared the new President Marco Pelucchi. “I intend to work in continuity with all that up to now was made by Luigi Olmo, who always encouraged us to work in group, in order to increase the number of the associated companies making Aipef a landmark in Italy and in Europe”.

Italy is one of the largest European producers of Polyurethane Foam and Dr. Pelucchi is in the Board of Europur, the European Association of Flexible Polyurethane Foam Manufacturers. . Founded in 1966, headquartered in Brussels, EUROPUR represents the sector and provides a platform for discussing and acting on the main issues relating to the production and use of Polyurethane Foam for over five decades.

Within EUROPUR, Aipef has always stood out for being one of the most proactive members participating in the different Working Groups.

At the General Assembly a few years ago, which was held in Paris, Dr. Pelucchi presented an innovative marketing program all-Italian, the project Poliuretano è, which promotes correct information on the innumerable qualities and potentials of Polyurethane Foam: the presentation got a considerable success among the participants from different countries

In 2022, a further presentation was made at the General Assembly organized in Berlin that showed the results of 15 years of the Poliuretano é project.

The History of Polyurethane

The discovery of Polyurethane Foam is attributed to Otto Bayer, who obtained this new material for the first time in 1937, while he was trying to obtain a new polymer in the Bayer laboratories in Germany.

The first polyester based Polyurethane Foam was born in Germany in the first 1940s. Thanks to its fluidity it was soon employed in the building industry. It was useful to fill the natural cavities of the traditional materials improving the insulation of the structures.

In the second half of 1950s further developments of this material made it successful employ in stuffed furnishing components replacing flax waste.

Flexible Polyurethane Foam is an elastomer that is obtained by reaction of two main components, polyol and isocyanate, and of other components, in smaller quantities, carefully selected. In this way are obtained products with very different appearance and characteristics.

It can be said that, among the plastic materials, Polyurethanes are those with the largest number of applications.

Its main features, elasticity and resilience, make it capable of withstanding considerable deformation under stress and return to its original size when the latter is interrupted, ensuring the spontaneous recovery of the initial shape and avoiding the creation of harmful depressions; for this reason the Flexible Polyurethane Foam is particularly suitable to be an indispensable element to guarantee comfort.

The structure of the Flexible Foam allows air circulation and dampness loss, so as to prevent allergies caused by mites and bacteria and provide the human body with natural transpiration.

Thanks to these characteristics, the Flexible Polyurethane Foam is definitely considered an hypoallergenic and hygienically safe compound.

Another fundamental characteristic is the hardness, the ability to support and distribute the weight of the human body, so that no pressure concentrations are created at the points of contact.

Through the research we have been able to take care of our customers’ requirements, developing more and more innovative materials.

Furthermore, the Flexible Polyurethane Foam can be easily recycled thanks to different recycling processes. Physical recycling obtained by agglomerating with binders; chemical recycling obtained from the decomposition of the polymer; energy recovery obtained from the combustion of the material in special waste-to-energy plants.
